Trainor of the best guerilla fighters in Asia

The Scout Ranger Training School is the unit that brought about the birth of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR). It was the training center that was first conceptualized to train guerilla fighters, before the FSRR was organized. The original training center was only mandated to train regular scout rangers. Today, after more than six (6) decades, the school evolved into a multi-tasking training school; conducting several relevant courses; to include the Scout Sniper Course, Scout Ranger Orientation Course, Pekiti Tersia Kali, Combat Tracking Course, Rapel Master Course, and even, Instructor Development Training.

Formed in the 1950's by the former AFP Vice Chief and Defense SecretaryGeneral Rafael "Rocky" Ileto, the "Father of the Scout Rangers", they were the heroes of their time who fought Hukbalahap guerillas. The unit name was a combination of the names of the two outstanding World War II units: the Alamo Scouts, adept in intelligence gathering behind enemy lines and the US Army Rangers, known for their ferocity in combat.

This group of commandos was tasked to counter the extremely violent Hukbalahap Guerillas in the 1950s, there had to be a compact and hard-hitting unit to match the rebels' agility and mobility. Intrepid and highly-skilled, the members of this unit had to infiltrate stealthily and strike with deadly effectiveness and withdraw as swiftly as they came in. They have to be specialists in small, highly selective strikes, raids, ambuscades, reconnaissance patrols and other offensive actions. On November 25 1950, The Scout Ranger Regiment was born. In 1989, the First Scout Ranger Regiment was disolved after it was heavily involved in the 1989 Coup'd tat attempt. When the abrupt rise in insurgency was observed during the President Corazon Aquino reign, the FSRR was reactivated in 1991, with the SR Class 103 as its first successful test mission in the Marag Valley to engage with the rising communist movement.

Created to counter the threat of the HUKs in the 50's the Scout Ranger Training School continues to provide the AFP with fierce and effective guerilla fighters, with refined SKILLs, STAMINA and SPIRIT.

As age takes its toll, skill and stamina might deteriorate....but the spirit remains. That is the reason why SRTS is dead serious in developing the values, character and attitude of students.

Sharing the same risk during combat, makes brotherhood in the Scout Ranger stronger. This is being strengthen and developed in the school with the principle of buddy system, where they look after the welfare of their buddies.
