This is a 32 week course divided into four phases. The first phase is the individual Training Phase; followed by the Small Unit Training Phase; The third phase is the Combat Maneuuver and the final phase is the Test Mission, where the class shall be deployed in actual combat for more or less 45 days.
Classrooms
While the Scout Ranger Training is designed to be more of Practical exercises than classroom instructions, delivery of concepts cannot escape the need to have classroom teaching and lectures; as such, just like any other schools, the SRTS needs classrooms.
The limited classroom instructions are conducted at the main SRTS classroom, equipped with computer, multi-media projetor and public address system.
Bleachers
Scout ranger instructions are usually loaded with demonstrations and return-demonstrations, due tomthe fact that Scout Ranger course is basically a performance based instruction. Bleachers are needed to provide a wide view for students to observe the skills demonstrations from the SRTS personnel.
The SRTS has four bleachers inside its compound, ready to be used for demonstrations, lectures and firl viewing.
Firing Range
One of the most important skills of a Scout Ranger is accurate shooting; hence, the school maintains a rifle range and a pistol range for training purposes. Pending the development of the rifle range, the Scout Sniper course is currently using the Fort Magsaysay firing for long distance shooting; because, the SRTS rifle range is limited to 250 meters only.
The pistol range has been recently renovated and improved by the US military personnel, in their effort to help the Filipino soldiers improve in training activities.
Rope Course
Roping and climbing skills are some of the most important and required skils of the Scout Rangers; hence, students are required to pass through the Rope Course at least once every month.
The rope course requires the students not only to be strong in the upper body muscles, but also to be proficient in skills in negotiating the different rope obstacles. While brute force is accepted, techniques and skills should be developed in order to preserve stamina and energy.
Assault Course
Scout Rangers should be aggressive and audacious. They should be skillful in assaulting the enemy position no matter how fortified it is. The different challenginng assault obstacles are designed to improve the students' killing instinct and audacity.
Students should not be hesitant; they should be decisive and fierce; hence, the assault course was designed.
Obstacle Course
Scout Rangers are known to be an "All weather, all terrain" soldiers; as such; they should be capable of negotiating all forms of obstacles especially in the mountains and jungles.
The SRTS provides an obstacle course in order to allow the students to be familiar with the different obstacles that they can be possibly encounter during the conduct of operations.
